Day one Xbox Game Pass title Darktide gets new Gamescom trailer

Announced in July 2020, upcoming co-op horde shooter Warhammer 40:000: Polar Night takes the traditional formula of developer Fatshark’s previous successes i Vermin time game and switch the fantasy setting for the bleak dark far future Warhammer 40:000. Originally set for a 2021 release date, Polar Night has since seen many delays. It was expected that the game could be released next month, but that date was canceled by Fatshark at the latest Polar Night delay. However, these delays haven’t stopped Fatshark from unveiling new trailers and sharing information about the latest title.

The latest trailer for Polar Night coming to fans as part of Gamescom 2022’s Opening Night Live presentation, where it showed around 90 seconds of new gameplay. Firstly, the trailer shows some of the environments players will have to fight their way through dark tide, while also revealing the name of the planet the game is set on. Tertium is where players must fight against hordes of enemies infected by the influence of the Chaos God Nurgle i Polar Night. As Rejects, they will take on the fight to reclaim Tertium’s Hive City.

Instead of the distinct characters associated with the classes i Vermin time, Polar Night allows players to customize their own character, creating a Reject of Tertium, pressed into service against Nurgle’s forces. There are four classes to choose from Polar Night: Veteran, Zealot, Psyker and Orgryn. Each class will have its own strengths and abilities, but everyone can participate in both melee and ranged combat Polar Night.

Beyond customizing a character’s appearance, Darktide’s The trailer also showcases some different loadout options players can take to make the rejection feel like their own. Melee weapons, weapons and armor can be changed throughout the game, and although these weren’t showcased in the trailer, if Fatshark builds on the formula set by Vermin timeplayers should probably expect some subclasses to further flesh out the starting classes.

As a trailer lasting just over a minute, not much more was shown Polar Night at Gamescom. With a November release date, many are expecting another big gameplay reveal for the title before long. From other details that have been shared, it appears that Fatshark is putting a huge amount of effort into this title, including producing thousands of voice lines for the characters in Polar Night so that a group of rejects in cooperation can interact with each other.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide launching on November 30, 2022 for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
