Call of Duty: Warzone has once again removed the Plunder mode as part of Season 4 Reloaded, and fans are making their disappointment known.
Big changes are on the horizon for Call of Duty: Warzone. Not just another sequel War zone slated to launch later this year, a mobile version is in the works that will eventually let players take the action on the go. While waiting for them to arrive, fans continue to play the original game, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things about War zone which makes some of them irritated.
Despite the popularity of Activision’s hit Battle Royale two years on, fans haven’t been shy about voicing their frustrations with the game, especially recently. From the perceived changes made to kill time in Season 4 to an assortment of bugs to an apparent increase in cheaters, it’s clear that War zone‘s live-service nature continues to make it vulnerable to new problems. Adding to these issues was Season 4 Reloaded’s removal of the Plunder mode from the game, a decision that has not gone down well with fans.
Since the game’s launch, Plunder has offered players a break from the chaos of the main battle royale mode by making the main goal to collect the most money instead of being the last player standing. The mode also removes permadeath from the equation, which could make it a more enticing option for players who find Call of Duty: Warzoneits standard game loop a little too hectic. For some, it’s even the main mode they enjoy playing, so it’s understandable that fans, like Reddit user eightyfps, share their disappointment that Plunder was removed for Season 4 Reloaded.
Eightyfps stated that they hate when they get home from work and start up War zone only to find Plunder missing. They emphasized how “there are people who just want to kick back and relax,” a sentiment echoed by other players who want Activision and Raven Software to bring the mode back right away. It should be noted that this isn’t the first time Plunder has been removed from the game, so it seems a given that it will return at some point, most likely sooner rather than later.
That said, it still stinks for the fans who come to War zone primarily for the more informal experience Plunder offers. Looting is still considered a limited-time mode, and thus prone to being pulled from rotation to give newer LTMs some time in the spotlight. However, this latest removal has served to further fuel calls for Plunder to be made a permanent mode. However, Raven has not officially responded to these calls, but with any luck it is listening and will be able to give fans what they want before long.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
