Yamaha reveals compact sound bar for even the smallest TV

With room for a premium and consumers wanting better sound quality, even from a smaller bedroom TV, there has been a boom in mini soundbars designed to bring dynamic sound to TVs of all sizes, especially in areas where there is little place.

One of the last mini soundbars to join the market comes from Yamaha. The new SR-C30A is a compact sound bar with integrated subwoofer that can easily upgrade any TV sound to make it truly immersive without taking up too much space.

At just 60cm in length and 6.4cm in height, the Yamaha SR-C30A center unit is designed to take up as little space as possible and is an ideal audio upgrade for game consoles, bedroom TVs, office laptops and even TVs in playroom. The system can sit in front of almost any TV or computer screen without blocking the screen. Alternatively, the center unit can be placed under a wall-mounted TV.

The Yamaha SR-C30A has an unusually slim companion subwoofer, measuring a sylphish 16cm wide, meaning it can be tucked away on a shelf or even hidden behind a curtain. The subwoofer is connected wirelessly to the soundbar so that the two devices deliver a uniform sound that gives an improved three-dimensional effect.

Yamaha claims that the SR-C30A has been fine-tuned so that the sounds from the subwoofer and the center unit are smoothly and seamlessly connected. The newly developed Adaptive Low Volume function ensures that the soundbar produces an immersive video experience that fully conveys the excitement and emotion of movies. It also creates a powerful presence at higher volume levels, making vocals and speech easy to hear, even at lower volumes.

Yamaha’s original sound technology focuses on how human sounds sound, and reproduces sounds from the speakers with directionality. This technology effectively projects the sound to give the impression that it is coming from above the speaker, with dialogue and vocals sounding like they are coming from the center of the TV screen.

Four custom preset sound modes are available (standard, stereo, game, 3D movie) and the SR-C30’s Clear Voice technology for improved dialogue clarity. The Yamaha Sound Bar Controller smartphone app can control the sound bar. In addition, there are buttons on the top of the C30A for easy control of volume levels, sound modes and input selection.

Prices and availability: The Yamaha SR-C30A Sound Bar and Subwoofer will ship in October for a retail price of $279 / £299 / €369.
